DuBois...FtCollins
Got up early in DuBois. We are anxious now to make miles, like a horse headed to the barn.Dubois in the daylight was quite a pretty little community at 6000 ft elvation. We head toward Ft Collins to find the truck and trailer.Blood leads us down higway 287.He is in a hurry. He wants to get to Denver to spend night with his daughter who is doing veternary medicine internship in Denver. He takes us fast. For the first 30 mi. or so terrain is really unique, very dry, strange rock formation thrusting up from rolling hills.Blood takes a few pix,but he is on a mission. The terrain then flattens out to become gently rolling hills.roads straight as an arrow. We are hammer down, alert for animals and the gendarmes. We turn off on highway 130 to take us through a twisty national park road. The early morning respite from the heat is gone.It is hot, like in the mid 90's All our jacket vents are open and plenty of air flow but it is hot air.We drink fuids in quantity at every stop .We see a car coming toward us in the distance,no light bar on top so we don' slow.He blows past us and is Colorado Highway Patrol. We gotta be toast.Watch him in the mirrors fully expecting handbrake turn.Nope! Escaped! Got lucky..boog
