In Kamloops,B.C. tonight
Sorry,no post yesterday...no internet. We are in Kamloops B.C. tonight, everyone is doing well with no major issues. We have had 2 days in a row of 450 miles/day.Special thanks to Rash (T.C.) for the supply of Boudreax's Butt Paste...it has saved our...uuh...uuh...made us more comfortable.Anyway trip from Fort Nelson was basically put our heads down a make some miles. The terrain along this route is rolling hills and nice country but not as dramatic as previous .Looks a lot like middle Tn. except forest is evergreen (spruce, pine, fir) and deciduous Alder. The alder is really attractive, has a white bark, tall straight trunks and grows in dense groves. We had noticed in the southern Yukon that many of the pines were dead or dying. This became more pronounced as we road further south into B.C. During a stop today in a little eatery we were talking about it and the guys at the next table explained it.Seems they are lumberjacks and make their living providing logs for the lumbermills. The pines here are infested with a beetle similar to the one in E.Tn. and it kills the pines. They are concerned for their livlihood as well as the landscape since logging is one of the 2 major industries here...........
