more Glacier

All the tourists of course attract the entrepreneurs and unfortunately area just outside the park is looking a bit" Gatlinburgish".Glacier reminds me alot of the Alps.We took a bike tour of the Alps last year and there are little roads all thru those mountains. The Euros have had many centuries to develope their roads thru the Alps and little roads access virtually every corner. Now some of these roads are not up to modern traffic standards and are a bit daunting,as was the Highway to the Sun...very narrow, winding with shear rock face on one side and steep drop off on the other with a guard rail just tall enough to highside a hapless BMW GS rider into the hinterlands should he err...Oh yea, forgot to tell you yesterday,we saw a lynx on highway 6 out of Kamloops. He shot across the road in front of us and ducked into the woods, but we got a good look. They are bigger than I thought...bet they would scratch you.Going thru Kallispell this morning saw a tall pole just outside city limits and on top was a big stick nest with two fledgeling chicks in it.Never saw the parents but checked it out closely with binoculars and I thought they were eagles.Blood however, our resident expert said they were ospreys.Got good 10x pix...boog
