more Alcan...
So,this was by far our best wildlife viewing day.Critters everywhere We saw and photographically recorded black bear(several),buffalo(many) mountain sheep, mountain goats, big horn sheep.and carbou to numerus to count. The sheep, goats and caribou look a little ragged this time of the year as they lose their winter coats in great clumps. We were able to watch them close up and for extended periods with no trouble.( T-bone, we have some pictures you will love). We covered 346 mi today but took us all day because we spent so much time ogleing the critters. The scenery itself was at least as good as any we have seen and perhaps the best.Did see a mounty patroling the road...this has been unusual. This country is so vast and traffic so sparse that a mounty lurking in the bushes with his radar on quick draw would probably not be very productive.Speed limits in Canada are max 100. (don't get excited, that's kilometers per hour, which is 62 mph). Enforcement must not be too rigid since cars with Canadian tags would frequently blow by us considerably over the limit. And if anybody cares, let it be known that a 650 V-Strom will outaccellerate a caribou,a young one anyway...boog
