South from Whitehorse to Watson Lake
What started as a sucky day ended as a great day.Awakened bright and early in Whitehorse, peered out the window and was raining like stink with overcast from horizon to horizon.Dang! The nemesis of the long distance touring rider is rain. When it rains you gotta go anyway.(miles to go before you sleep, you know) Problems with rain are myriad;roads are slick, you get cold, and you get wet unless your raingear is really good and sometimes even if it is.Biggest problem however is visibility. There are no wipers on full face helmets but Rain-X helps a lot.Inside of the faceshield fogs, but antifog helps that too,a little. Those of us wearing specs get fogging there too.Suffice to say not being able to see well compromises the rain riding experience. So,we face or responsibility and take off in the rain.It rained on us vigorously for a solid 110 miles We were all on edge and weary from the concentration required(no site seeing goes on while rain riding) and the rain stopped! Sun popped out...Glory! Rest of the day weatherwise was primo...boog
