White Horse Lake

Today we rode 450 miles from Dease to White Horse Lake. Absolutely gorgeous scenery even through the rain. We can only imagine how much more beautiful it would be on a clear, sunny day. We had a lot of miles to cover today to reach our destination so we didn't stop for lunch anywhere, just snacked out of our saddlebags. The road was rough, bumpy, lineless, and vacant of all road signs for about 200 miles. Made us appreciate the good roads.

Fred and Pawn Dog had THE experience so far. Both of them were running about 70 when they had to get on the brakes really hard and come to a screeching halt to avoid the latest wildlife crossing the road - this time it was grizzly bears - 2 of them walking across the road like they had all day. This was not a photo op. 15 minutes later, John had stopped along the side of the road to wait on the rest of us. He turned off his bike and then looked to his right - a bear less than 30 feet from him. Yikes. Needless to say, another photo op not taken.

Mitch is having battery problems. We have had to push him off a couple of times today. Something is not working right. Hoping to make it to Anchorage before repair is required. During one of the gas stops, Pawn Dog got his wide saddlebags caught on the pump that turned him into the trash can that turned over and spilled everywhere; his bike hit the pavement and is now officially broken in complete with scratches and a broken signal light.

We did take the time to stop at a Jade mine early today and took that opportunity to put on all the warm clothes we had. Of course we suckered ourselves into the souvenir shop and bought a few small items.

Hello to the wives, girlfriends, and those watching us via this post. Everyone is safe and happy.

We should be entering Alaska tomorrow as our destination is Tok. We are on our way now to get some fish and chips and relax.

Hey Beav, watch out for cows. At least now you know what "end" to go around.
